ATMATA Kendram is the MNGO for the implementation of RCH programme sponsored by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) in Alappuzha District. It aims at enhancing the quality of reproductive life of the population.
               
Its main goal is to establish conducive environment for healthy motherhood and happy childhood. Improvement of antenatal care and post natal care, prevention and treatment of RTI/STI, adolescent health, family planning, Immunization are the central focus of the RCH activities.

RCH project is concentrated in the underserved areas of Alappuzha district, which include socio economically backward areas, costal belts, SC/ST habitations and unreached area. The target areas of Arattupuzha, Pattanakad, Muttar and Alappuzha Municipality are socio economically backward and have a less access to health care services from the existing government health infrastructure.

RCH programmes activities are implemented by the following four FNGOs under the guidance of ATMATA.

1. Kuttanadu Vikasana Samithy, Ramankary for Muttar
2. District Family Forum, Alappuzha for Alappuzha Municipality
3. Holy Cross Hospital, Thankey, for Pattanakkadu
4. Sameeksha Charitable Society, Valiyazhikkal, for Aratttupuzha

Major Activities

Empowerment of Staff: conducts training programmes, workshops, orientation sessions and sensitization programmes to enrich RCH FNGO staff to improve the maternal and child health in the specified area.

IEC Development and Distribution: A number of different leaflets, brochures, exhibition kits and booklets indicating Antenatal care, immunization, prevention and treatment of RTI/STI and adolescent health are being developed and distributed effectively through FNGOs.

ANC Camps: Camps are organized for pregnant women by FNGOs to ensure the full ANC coverage to all pregnant women irrespctive of their financial condition. ANC check ups, distribution of IFA tablets, TT injections, referrals services are major activities in these camps.

RTI/STI Camps: Identification new cases of RTIs, primary treatment, referral are the major concerns of these camps. Persons with RTI are motivated to complete the treatment along with their spouses.

Awareness Programmes: Awareness programmes are organized for pregnant women, mothers of children under the age of 3, adolescent girls and the public with a view of sensitizing them about the importance of maternal and child health.

House visits: Health volunteers and ANM visit houses to make one to one contact with eligible couple, pregnant women and mothers with children under the age of six to make them aware of antenatal care, immunization, family planning and prevention of RTI.

Workshops for health staff and volunteers: conducts workshops for health staff and volunteers to mobilize their services and cooperation

Meeting with PRIs and CBO leaders: PRIs and FBO leaders are sensitized to get their support in the implementation of RCH activities.
